Abstrak

Soil erosion has become one of the greatest adversaries for farmers in Indonesia. The rate of erosion, which outpaces soil formation, can lead to serious global issues such as land crises. The youth organization Pemuda Harapan Sapta (PHS) is facing erosion and landslide problems in the slopes surrounding the river. The high rate of erosion and the lack of soil retention systems can cause landslides that potentially damage the surrounding environment. The planting of vetiver grass through the “Tebar Wangi†program is being implemented as a solution to control erosion and landslides. This plant is chosen for its effective ability to bind soil particles tightly, especially on hard and rocky slopes. The vetiver grass planting activities involve PHS youth members as well as the Jagalan village community. The “Tebar Wangi†initiative not only includes the planting of vetiver grass but also encompasses a series of activities such as fertilizer production, maceration activities, aromatherapy candle making, and marketing socialization. Through this collaboration, it is hoped to enhance the productivity of the Jagalan village youth organization with the “Tebar Wangi†activities and provide sustainable benefits for the surrounding environment. Thus, through the “Tebar Wangi†activities and collaboration with the PHS youth organization, efforts to prevent erosion and landslides are being carried out effectively with the hope of providing significant benefits for the environment and land productivity.
